Synopsis
NANA is a 2006 romantic drama anime with 47 episodes. It was made by the studio Madhouse and is based on the manga by Ai Yazawa. It is set in Tokyo and follows two young women in their early twenties.
Two 20 year old women meet by chance on a train to Tokyo during a snowstorm. They sit next to each other and start to talk. They find out that they have the same name, Nana, but they could not be more different.
Nana Komatsu is sweet and emotional, and she falls in love easily. She depends a lot on the people around her. She is moving to Tokyo to be near her boyfriend and her friends. Nana Osaki is cool and independent. She is a punk rock singer with a tough attitude. She is moving to Tokyo to follow her dream of becoming a famous musician with her band, Black Stones.
After the train ride, the two Nanas go their separate ways. But soon, by chance, they meet again while looking for an apartment. They both want the same place, Room 707. To save money, they decide to share it.
Living together, the two Nanas become close friends, and they help each other through love, work and hard times. Nana Osaki works on her music career, while Nana Komatsu tries to find her own path. The series follows their friendship, their relationships and their dreams as they grow up in the big city.
