Synopsis
Pokémon is a fantasy adventure anime that began in 1997. This original series ran until 2002 with 276 episodes, and it was made by the studio OLM. It is based on the Pokémon video games by Game Freak and Nintendo. It is a bright and friendly show for all ages.
The story is set in a world full of Pokémon, creatures with special powers that live in the wild. People called Trainers catch Pokémon in small balls called Poké Balls. Trainers raise them, become friends with them and use them in battles against other Trainers.
Ash Ketchum is a 10-year-old boy from Pallet Town. His dream is to become the world's greatest Pokémon Master. On the day he is supposed to get his first Pokémon from Professor Oak, he oversleeps. By the time he arrives, all the usual starter Pokémon are gone. The only one left is a Pikachu, an electric mouse Pokémon who does not like Ash at all and refuses to go inside its ball.
Ash and Pikachu set out together anyway. At first they do not get along, but after a dangerous moment, they become best friends. Along the way, Ash meets Misty, a girl who loves Water Pokémon, and Brock, a gym leader who wants to become a Pokémon breeder. They are often chased by Team Rocket, a trio of silly villains who want to steal Pikachu.
The show follows Ash as he travels, catches new Pokémon and battles gym leaders to earn badges.
