Synopsis
FLCL is a 2000 science fiction comedy anime with six episodes. It was released as an OVA and made by Gainax and Production I.G, with direction by Kazuya Tsurumaki. It is an original story set in Mabase, a small and quiet Japanese town with a large factory shaped like an iron.

Naota Nandaba is a 12 year old boy who thinks nothing amazing ever happens in Mabase. He tries to act mature and bored. He spends time with Mamimi, the older girlfriend of his brother, who is away playing baseball in America.

One day, a strange young woman on a yellow scooter crashes into Naota. Her name is Haruko Haruhara. After the crash, she hits him on the head with her electric bass guitar. The next day, a strange horn grows out of Naota's forehead. Soon, a giant robot comes out of his head.

Haruko moves into Naota's house as a housekeeper, and she brings chaos with her. More robots keep coming out of Naota's head, and he gets pulled into fights between these robots and a mysterious company called Medical Mechanica. Haruko says she is an investigator from space, but it is clear she has her own plans. One of the robots becomes a friendly helper named Canti.

The show is fast and loud, with strange images and jokes. It has a famous rock soundtrack by the band The Pillows. The series follows Naota as he deals with robots, Haruko and the confusing feelings of growing up.
