Synopsis
Food Wars! The Fifth Plate is the fifth and final season of the cooking comedy anime Food Wars! Shokugeki no Soma. It aired in 2020 with 13 episodes and was made by J.C.Staff. It is based on the manga by Yuto Tsukuda and Shun Saeki. Like earlier seasons, it has a lot of fan service when people taste food.
The story is set at Totsuki Culinary Academy, a very hard cooking school in Tokyo. Soma Yukihira is a bold young chef who grew up cooking in his father's small diner. After the big battles of the last season, Soma and his friends are now second-year students. Many of them are members of the Elite Ten, the group of top students who help run the school. Erina Nakiri, a chef with a perfect sense of taste, now leads the school.
At the start of this season, the new Elite Ten face a special exam. They must run a small snack stand on the beach and make as much money as possible in three days. The problem is that they are given the worst spot on the beach, and the stand is falling apart.
At the same time, a mysterious new teacher arrives at Totsuki. He seems to be very interested in Erina. Soon, a new threat appears from outside the school, in the form of a dangerous group of underground cooks.
The season follows Soma and his friends as they face new rivals and prepare for a big international cooking contest.
