Synopsis
High School of the Dead is a 2010 horror action anime with 12 episodes. It was made by the studio Madhouse and is based on the manga by Daisuke Sato and Shouji Sato. It is set in a Japanese city during a sudden zombie outbreak. The show has strong violence and a lot of adult fan service.
Takashi Komuro is a high school student at Fujimi Academy. One normal school day, he sees a strange man attack a teacher at the school gate. Within minutes, the victims turn into zombies and begin to attack others. The outbreak spreads through the school and then across the whole city. The zombies are drawn to sound, and any bite turns a person into one of them.
Takashi escapes with his childhood friend Rei Miyamoto. Along the way, they join up with other survivors from the school. Saya Takagi is a very smart girl from a powerful family. Kohta Hirano is a shy boy who knows a lot about guns. Saeko Busujima is a calm and skilled kendo champion. They are also joined by the school nurse, Shizuka Marikawa.
After they get out of the school, the group has to survive in a city where the police and government are falling apart. Each of them wants to find out if their families are still alive. The series follows the group as they move across the city, find weapons and supplies, and face both zombies and dangerous survivors.
