Synopsis
Lycoris Recoil is a 2022 action comedy anime with 13 episodes. It is an original story made by A-1 Pictures. It is set in modern Tokyo, a city that seems very safe and peaceful.
Tokyo looks peaceful because a secret group keeps it that way. The group is called Direct Attack, or DA. It uses teams of teenage girls called Lycoris to stop criminals and terrorists before anyone finds out. The Lycoris are orphans who were trained as agents from a young age. They wear school uniforms, so nobody suspects them.
Takina Inoue is a serious and skilled Lycoris who always tries to get the job done. During a dangerous mission, she ignores her orders to save her team. Her bosses are not happy. As a punishment, they move her away from the main base to a small branch.
The branch is a café called LycoReco. There, Takina meets her new partner, Chisato Nishikigi. Chisato is said to be the strongest Lycoris ever, but she is nothing like Takina expected. She is cheerful and full of energy. She also has a strict personal rule. She does not kill anyone, and she only uses special bullets that do not cause serious harm.
At the café, the girls serve coffee and sweets to customers. They also take on odd jobs, like babysitting and teaching, along with their secret missions. Takina wants to prove herself and return to headquarters. The series follows Takina and Chisato as they work together and slowly become close friends.
