One night, while Rito is taking a bath, a naked girl suddenly appears in the water. Her name is Lala Satalin Deviluke, and she is a princess from the planet Deviluke. She has run away from home because her father wants her to marry one of many suitors from across the galaxy. She is cheerful and friendly, and she has a small tail and many crazy inventions.
Soon, alien bodyguards arrive to take Lala back. Through a big misunderstanding, Lala decides that Rito wants to marry her, and she happily agrees. Now Rito is stuck as the fiancé of an alien princess, while still wanting to confess to Haruna.
Other aliens also come to Earth to challenge Rito or win Lala. The show follows Rito as he deals with endless embarrassing accidents, strange visitors and a love life that keeps getting more complicated.
