Synopsis
Date A Live is a 2013 science fiction romantic comedy anime, and this first season has 12 episodes. It was made by AIC Plus+ and is based on the light novels by Koushi Tachibana. It is set in Tenguu City, a modern Japanese city built after a huge disaster.
Thirty years ago, a strange explosion called a spacequake destroyed a large part of Asia. Since then, smaller spacequakes happen from time to time.
Shido Itsuka is a normal high school boy who lives with his cheerful younger sister, Kotori. One day, a spacequake alarm goes off, and Shido runs into the danger zone because he thinks Kotori is there. In the middle of the destroyed area, he meets a beautiful girl in armor. She is a Spirit, a powerful being from another world. Spacequakes happen when Spirits appear in our world.
A special military unit called the AST wants to kill the Spirits. One of its members is Origami Tobiichi, a quiet girl from Shido's class. But Shido learns there is another way. Kotori is secretly the commander of Ratatoskr, a group that wants to save the Spirits. They have found that Shido has a rare power. If he can make a Spirit fall in love with him and kiss her, he can seal her powers away.
To do this, Shido has to take the Spirits on dates. The series follows Shido as he tries to win the heart of the first Spirit, a girl he names Tohka, and save her from the AST.
