Fate/Zero Season 2

Fate/Zero Season 2 is the 2012 second half of the dark fantasy action anime. It has 12 episodes and was made by the studio ufotable, based on the light novels by Gen Urobuchi of Nitroplus. It follows straight on from the first season.

The story is set in the Japanese city of Fuyuki in the early 1990s. Seven mages, called Masters, are fighting in a secret war called the Holy Grail War. Each Master has summoned a Servant, the spirit of a great hero from history or legend, to fight for them. The last pair left standing will win the Holy Grail, a treasure that can grant any wish.

Kiritsugu Emiya is a cold and practical mage killer. He has summoned Saber, a noble knight who believes in honor. The two of them do not agree on how to fight. Other Masters include Kirei Kotomine, a priest with a hidden emptiness inside him, and Waver Velvet, a young student who is paired with Rider, a proud and cheerful king.

The season opens with a huge threat. A giant monster rises from the river in the middle of the city. The Masters and Servants, who are enemies, must work together for a short time to stop it before ordinary people find out about the war.

After that, the war becomes darker and more ruthless. The season follows the remaining Masters and Servants as they fight for their wishes and learn what those wishes really cost.
