Fate/stay night

Fate/stay night is a 2006 fantasy action anime with 24 episodes. It was made by Studio Deen and is based on the visual novel by Type-Moon. It is set in Fuyuki, a modern Japanese city where a secret magic war takes place every few decades.

This war is called the Holy Grail War. Seven mages, called Masters, each summon a Servant. Servants are the spirits of great heroes from history and legend. The Masters and Servants fight each other to the end. The last team standing wins the Holy Grail, which can grant any wish.

Shirou Emiya is a high school student who knows only a little magic. He was adopted as a child by a man who taught him to want to be a hero who saves everyone. Shirou helps other people all the time, even when it costs him.

One night at school, Shirou sees two strange warriors fighting in the yard. One of them sees him and attacks. Shirou runs home, but he is attacked again. In a shed, he accidentally summons a Servant. She is a young female knight named Saber, and she swears to protect him.

Shirou now has to fight in the Holy Grail War, even though he does not want to kill anyone. His classmate Rin Tohsaka is also a Master, with a Servant named Archer. The show follows Shirou and Saber as they face the other Masters and learn to trust each other.
