Synopsis
Bleach is a 2004 action anime with supernatural elements. It was made by Studio Pierrot and is based on the manga by Tite Kubo. The original series runs for 366 episodes and is set in Karakura Town, a normal city in modern Japan.
Ichigo Kurosaki is a 15 year old high school student with bright orange hair and a tough attitude. He lives with his father and his two younger sisters above the family clinic. Ichigo has always been able to see ghosts. He does not like it, but he has learned to live with it.
One night, a girl dressed in a black robe appears in his room. Her name is Rukia Kuchiki, and she is a Soul Reaper. Soul Reapers guide good spirits to the afterlife, which is called the Soul Society. They also fight Hollows, evil spirits that attack and eat human souls.
That same night, a Hollow attacks Ichigo's family. Rukia is badly hurt while trying to protect them. To save his sisters, Ichigo takes Rukia's sword, and she passes her powers to him. Ichigo becomes a Soul Reaper, much stronger than Rukia expected.
Without her powers, Rukia is stuck in the human world. She joins Ichigo's class at school and helps him learn the job. The series follows Ichigo as he protects his town from Hollows and helps lost souls, while he gets pulled deeper into the world of the Soul Reapers.
