Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba

Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba Season 1 takes place in Japan in the early 1900s, during the Taisho period. Tanjiro Kamado is a kind teenage boy. He lives on a snowy mountain with his mother and his younger brothers and sisters. Tanjiro helps his family by selling charcoal in the town below. He also has a very strong sense of smell. One day he comes home and finds that a demon has killed his family. Only his sister Nezuko is still alive. But she has turned into a demon too.

Soon after, a demon slayer named Giyu Tomioka finds them. He tries to kill Nezuko. Nezuko protects her brother instead of hurting him. Because of this, Giyu decides to let them live. He tells Tanjiro to find an old swordsman called Sakonji Urokodaki, who trains new demon slayers. Tanjiro now has two goals. He wants to make Nezuko human again. He also wants to find the demon that killed his family. To do this, he must become strong enough to join the Demon Slayer Corps. This is a secret group that hunts demons at night. His training is long and very hard.

Demon Slayer is a dark fantasy action series. It mixes sword fights and scary demons with family love and sad, quiet moments. The anime is made by studio Ufotable. It is based on the manga by Koyoharu Gotouge. This first season has 26 episodes and first aired in 2019.
