Synopsis
Hunter x Hunter (2011) is an adventure anime made by the studio Madhouse. It is a new adaptation of the manga by Yoshihiro Togashi and runs for 148 episodes. It is set in a fantasy world with wild beasts, hidden treasure and dangerous places.
Gon Freecss is a 12-year-old boy who lives on Whale Island with his aunt Mito. He grew up thinking his parents were gone. Then he learns that his father, Ging, is alive and is a famous Hunter. Hunters are special people with a license that lets them go almost anywhere. They hunt for rare animals, lost places, treasure or criminals.
Gon wants to meet his father, so he decides to become a Hunter too. To do that, he must pass the Hunter Exam. It is a very hard test, and many people are hurt or die trying. Only a few pass each year.
On a ship to the exam, Gon meets two other applicants. Kurapika is a calm and clever young man with a serious reason to become a Hunter. Leorio is older and louder, and he says he wants the license for money. The three become friends as they face the first tests before the real exam begins.
At the exam site, they meet hundreds of other applicants. Some are friendly, and some are very dangerous. Gon also meets Killua, a boy his own age with strange skills.
