Synopsis
Black Clover is a 2017 fantasy action anime with 170 episodes. It was made by Studio Pierrot and is based on the manga by Yuki Tabata. It is set in the Clover Kingdom, a land where almost everyone can use magic.
Asta and Yuno are two orphans who were left at a church in a poor village on the edge of the kingdom. They grew up together like brothers. Both of them share the same dream. They want to become the Wizard King, the strongest mage in the land who protects the kingdom.
Yuno is calm and has a natural gift for magic. Asta is the opposite. He cannot use any magic at all. To make up for it, he trains his body every day and never stops shouting about his dream. Many people laugh at him, but Asta does not give up.
When young people in the kingdom turn 15, they receive a grimoire, a magic book that helps them use spells. Yuno gets a rare four-leaf grimoire. Asta gets nothing, until a strange event gives him a dark and very old book of his own. It holds a power that is very different from normal magic.
Next, the two friends travel to the royal capital to try out for the Magic Knights, the elite guards of the kingdom. The series follows Asta and Yuno as they train, fight and push each other toward their shared goal.
