Synopsis
Food Wars! The Second Plate is the 2016 second season of the cooking comedy anime. It has 13 episodes and was made by the studio J.C.Staff, based on the manga by Yuto Tsukuda and Shun Saeki. It picks up right after the end of the first season.
Soma Yukihira is a young cook from a small family diner. He now studies at Totsuki Culinary Academy, one of the hardest cooking schools in the world. Students there often settle their problems with cooking duels called Shokugeki. Soma wants to become the top student at the school and a better chef than his father.
The season is about the Autumn Election, a big cooking tournament for the best first year students. Only a small number of students pass the first round. Now they move on to the main tournament, where they face each other one on one. The judges are famous chefs and food experts, and the pressure is very high.
Soma's friends and rivals are also in the tournament. Takumi Aldini is an Italian cook who wants to beat Soma. Alice Nakiri uses science and modern methods in her cooking. Akira Hayama is a spice expert with a very sharp sense of smell. Megumi Tadokoro, a shy girl from Soma's dorm, also tries her best.
Each round has a new theme, and the cooks must come up with creative dishes to win. The season follows Soma as he faces tough opponents in the Autumn Election and learns from every match.
