Synopsis
Food Wars! The Third Plate is the 2017 third season of the cooking comedy anime. This first part has 12 episodes and was made by the studio J.C.Staff, based on the manga by Yuto Tsukuda and Shun Saeki. It picks up after the end of the second season.
Soma Yukihira is a young cook from a small family diner. He studies at Totsuki Culinary Academy, one of the hardest cooking schools in the world. Students there often settle problems with cooking duels called Shokugeki. Soma wants to become the best cook at the school and one day beat his father.
The top of Totsuki is ruled by the Elite Ten, a council of the ten best students. They have huge power over the school, and most students are too afraid to challenge them. Soma has already done well in big events, and now he wants to face the Elite Ten directly.
The season opens with the Moon Banquet Festival, a big school event where students run food stalls and compete to earn the most money. Soma decides to go up against Terunori Kuga, a member of the Elite Ten who is famous for his spicy Sichuan food. Soma has to learn a lot about Chinese cooking in a short time.
Later, a new and much stricter leader tries to take control of Totsuki and change the school forever. The season follows Soma and his friends from Polar Star Dormitory as they fight to protect their way of cooking.
