Synopsis
Food Wars! The Third Plate: Totsuki Train Arc is the second part of the third season of the cooking comedy anime Food Wars! Shokugeki no Soma. It aired in 2018 with 12 episodes and was made by J.C.Staff. It is based on the manga by Yuto Tsukuda and Shun Saeki. Like earlier seasons, it has a lot of fan service when people taste food.
The story is set at Totsuki Culinary Academy, a very hard cooking school in Tokyo. The school is now controlled by Azami Nakiri and his group, Central. Azami wants every student to cook only the dishes he approves, and he shuts down clubs and students who go against him.
Soma Yukihira, a bold young chef who grew up in his father's diner, refuses to follow Azami's rules. Now the school's advancement exam is coming. Soma and his friends learn that the exam has been changed. It is set up so that the rebels will fail and be expelled.
Erina Nakiri, Azami's daughter and a chef with a perfect sense of taste, decides to help Soma's group. The exam takes place across Hokkaido, in the far north of Japan. The students ride a special train from city to city and cook at each stop. Every stage is harder than the last, with poor ingredients, bad weather and judges who want them to lose.
The season follows Soma and his friends as they fight to stay at Totsuki and protect the kind of cooking they believe in.
