Synopsis
Guilty Crown is a 2011 science fiction action anime with 22 episodes. It is an original story made by Production I.G. It is set in Tokyo in the year 2039.
Ten years ago, a deadly virus called the Apocalypse Virus spread across Japan on Christmas Eve. This event is known as Lost Christmas. After it, the country fell into chaos. An international group called GHQ took control of Japan to restore order. Now GHQ rules the country with a strong army, and many Japanese people feel like they have lost their freedom.
Shu Ouma is a shy 17 year old high school student. He finds it hard to talk to people and keeps his feelings to himself. He is a big fan of a singer named Inori Yuzuriha, the voice of the online music group Egoist.
One day, Shu finds Inori hurt and hiding in his secret spot. He learns that she is part of Funeral Parlor, a resistance group that fights against GHQ. Inori is carrying a special container with something very valuable inside. During an attack, the container breaks, and Shu gains a strange power called the Power of the King. With it, he can pull out a Void from another person's body. A Void is a weapon or tool shaped by that person's heart.
Gai Tsutsugami, the leader of Funeral Parlor, wants Shu to join them. The series follows Shu as he is pulled into a war against GHQ and tries to decide what kind of person he wants to be.
