Synopsis
Hellsing is a 2001 horror action anime with 13 episodes. It was made by the studio Gonzo and is based on the manga by Kohta Hirano. The first episodes follow the manga, but the rest of the series tells its own story. It is set in modern England, and it has a lot of blood and violence, so it is only for adult viewers.
The Hellsing Organization is a secret group that protects Britain from vampires and other monsters. It is led by Sir Integra Hellsing, a serious and strong young woman. Its most powerful member is Alucard, an ancient vampire who serves the Hellsing family. He hunts other vampires with huge guns and seems to enjoy every fight.
The story begins in a small English village, where a vampire priest has turned the people into ghouls. Seras Victoria, a young police officer, is sent there with her team. The mission goes very wrong. Alucard arrives to stop the vampire, and Seras is left close to death. He gives her a choice, and from that night on, she becomes a vampire too.
Seras joins Hellsing, but she has a hard time accepting what she has become. She does not want to drink blood. Meanwhile, more and more artificial vampires start to appear across the country, and someone seems to be behind them.
The show has a dark gothic mood, with long night scenes, gunfights and a slow, moody style.
