Junichi Hashiba is a high school boy who has never had a girlfriend. He and his friends talk about girls all the time, but none of them have any real experience. Junichi badly wants a girlfriend before he graduates.

His friends dare him to confess his feelings to Yukana Yame, a gal in his class. In Japan, a gal is a girl with a flashy, fashionable style, with dyed hair, makeup and a bold attitude. Many students believe that Yukana has dated many boys. Junichi expects her to laugh at him and say no.

To his surprise, Yukana agrees to go out with him. Junichi is shocked, and he has no idea how to act around her. He keeps imagining what a gal must expect from a boyfriend, while Yukana turns out to be very different from the rumors about her.

Soon, other girls enter the picture too, including Junichi's childhood friend Nene and a quiet girl from school. The show follows Junichi and Yukana as they learn to understand each other, with many awkward and embarrassing moments along the way.
