Synopsis
Oreimo is a 2010 romantic comedy anime with 12 TV episodes, plus a few extra episodes released online. It was made by AIC Build and is based on the light novel series by Tsukasa Fushimi. It is set in Chiba, Japan. The show has themes about adult games and some fan service, so it is best for older teens and adults.
Kyosuke Kosaka is a normal 17-year-old high school student. He lives with his parents and his younger sister, Kirino, who is 14. Kirino seems perfect. She gets top grades, is great at sports and works as a teen model. But she and Kyosuke barely talk, and she treats him coldly.
One day, Kyosuke finds a case for a cute magical girl anime DVD in the hall of their house. Inside is an adult game about little sisters. Soon, he finds out that it belongs to Kirino. His perfect sister is secretly a huge otaku who loves anime and games, and she has hidden it from everyone.
Kirino comes to Kyosuke and asks for his advice about her secret hobby. She has no one else she can talk to about it. Kyosuke agrees to help. He helps her find otaku friends online, such as Saori and the sharp-tongued Kuroneko. He also has to protect her secret from their strict father.
The show follows the two siblings as they slowly start to understand each other, often in very awkward ways.
