Akashic Records of Bastard Magic Instructor

Akashic Records of Bastard Magic Instructor is a 2017 fantasy action anime with 12 episodes. It was made by the studio Actas and is based on the light novel series by Taro Hitsuji. It is set in the city of Fejite, home to the Alzano Imperial Magic Academy, one of the best magic schools in the empire.

Glenn Radars is a lazy young man with no job and no plans. His guardian, the powerful mage Celica, gets tired of this and forces him to work as a temporary teacher at the academy. Glenn does not want to be there. On his first days, he arrives late, writes "self-study" on the board and goes to sleep. He also seems to hate magic.

Sistine Fibel is a smart and serious student who wants to learn all she can about magic. She is angry at Glenn for wasting class time. She challenges him to a magic duel to make him take the job seriously. Her best friend, Rumia Tingel, is a kind girl who tries to keep the peace.

After a while, Glenn surprises the class by giving a real lesson. He shows that he knows much more about magic than he lets people see. Slowly, the students begin to respect him, and he starts to care about them.

The show mixes school comedy with magic battles. There are also hints that Glenn has a past he does not talk about.
