Chivalry of a Failed Knight

Chivalry of a Failed Knight is a 2015 fantasy action anime with 12 episodes. It was made by SILVER LINK. and Nexus and is based on the light novels by Riku Misora. It is set in a version of our world where some people are born with magic powers.

People with these powers are called Blazers. They can turn their soul into a weapon, called a Device. Blazers are trained at special schools to become Mage Knights. Students are ranked from A, the best, to F, the worst.

Ikki Kurogane is a student at Hagun Academy. He is an F-rank, and people call him the Worst One. He has very little magic, and he had to repeat a year. But Ikki does not give up. He has trained his body and his sword skills for years, and he is a much stronger fighter than his rank suggests.

One day, a new transfer student arrives. She is Stella Vermillion, a princess from a European country and an A-rank Blazer with incredible fire magic. By accident, Ikki walks in on her while she is changing clothes in the room they have been told to share. Stella is furious. She challenges him to a duel. The loser must obey the winner for the rest of their life.

The duel surprises the whole school. After it, Ikki and Stella become roommates and train together. The series follows them as they compete to be chosen for the Seven Stars Sword Art Festival, a national tournament for young knights.
