Synopsis
BEASTARS is a 2019 drama anime, and this first season has 12 episodes. It was made by the studio Orange and is based on the manga by Paru Itagaki. It is set in a modern world where all the people are animals that walk and talk like humans.
In this world, carnivores and herbivores live together, go to school together and work side by side. Eating meat is against the law. But the two groups still fear and distrust each other.
At Cherryton Academy, a boarding school, an alpaca student named Tem is found killed and eaten. Everyone knows that the killer must be a carnivore, and the school is suddenly full of fear.
Legoshi is a large gray wolf in his second year. He is tall and strong, but he is also shy and gentle. He works backstage in the drama club and tries not to stand out, because he knows others are afraid of him. Louis, a proud red deer, is the drama club's star actor, and he wants to become the next Beastar, a leader who brings both groups together.
One night, Legoshi meets Haru, a small white rabbit. For a moment, his hunting instinct takes over. Afterwards, he is shocked and confused by what he felt. He does not know if he wants to protect her or eat her.
The series follows Legoshi as he struggles with his own nature, his feelings for Haru and the mystery of Tem's death.
