Synopsis
ODDTAXI is a 2021 mystery drama anime with 13 episodes. It was made by OLM and P.I.C.S., and it is an original story written by Kazuya Konomoto. It is set in modern Tokyo, but all the characters are animals who live like humans. The show has some violence and adult themes, so it is best for older teens and adults.
Hiroshi Odokawa is a 41-year-old walrus who works as a taxi driver. He is quiet and a little cynical, and he does not have many friends. He does not like to get involved in other people's lives. Most of his days are spent driving around the city and chatting with his passengers.
His passengers are a strange mix of people. There is a college student who wants to go viral online, a pair of struggling comedians and a member of a young idol group. There is also a doctor who is a friend of Odokawa, and a nurse who works with him. Their conversations seem simple and funny at first.
But something serious is going on in the background. A high school girl has gone missing. Slowly, Odokawa realizes that he is somehow connected to her disappearance. Soon, both the police and a local gang start to take an interest in him.
The show is told through many short conversations that seem random but slowly link together. It mixes dry humor with a tense mystery about lies and hidden connections.
