Synopsis
Bakemonogatari is a 2009 supernatural mystery anime with 15 episodes. It was made by the studio Shaft and is based on the light novels by NisiOisiN. It is set in a small town in Japan. The show is known for its long, clever conversations and its unusual art style.
Koyomi Araragi is a third year high school student. During spring break, he was attacked by a vampire and briefly became one himself. With help from a strange man named Meme Oshino, he is now almost human again. Some small vampire powers still remain, like fast healing.
One day, a classmate named Hitagi Senjougahara falls down the school stairs, and Koyomi catches her. He is shocked to find that she weighs almost nothing. Hitagi is a quiet girl with a sharp tongue, and she has kept to herself for years. She does not want anyone to know her secret, and she threatens Koyomi to keep him quiet.
Still, Koyomi offers to help her. He takes her to Oshino, who lives in an old empty building. Oshino explains that her problem is caused by an oddity, a kind of supernatural being linked to human feelings and folklore.
After this, Koyomi meets other girls who each have their own problems with oddities. Each story arc focuses on one of them. The series follows Koyomi as he tries to help them, while he also gets closer to Hitagi.
