Synopsis
Nekomonogatari Black is a 2012 supernatural anime with 4 episodes. It was made by the studio Shaft and is based on the light novel by NisiOisiN. It is part of the Monogatari series and is a prequel to Bakemonogatari. It has long, clever conversations and some suggestive scenes, so it is best for older viewers.
The story takes place during Golden Week, a spring holiday in Japan. Koyomi Araragi is a high school boy who was a vampire during the last spring break. He is now mostly human again, but he still heals very fast. He lives with his two younger sisters, and he is friends with his class president, Tsubasa Hanekawa.
Tsubasa is smart and kind, and she seems perfect in every way. One day, she and Koyomi find a dead white cat on the road. Its tail has been cut off. Tsubasa gently buries it. Koyomi notices that something about her seems wrong, but he does not know what.
Soon after, a strange white-haired girl with cat ears begins attacking people in town. She is a cat spirit that has taken over Tsubasa's body. This cat spirit acts on all the stress and pain that Tsubasa hides from the world.
Koyomi wants to save her. He asks for help from Meme Oshino, an expert on strange spirits, and from Shinobu, the former vampire who now stays with Oshino. The show is a mix of mystery, drama and dark comedy.
