Fate/stay night: Unlimited Blade Works 2nd Season

Fate/stay night: Unlimited Blade Works 2nd Season is the 2015 second half of the fantasy action anime. It has 13 episodes and was made by the studio ufotable. It is based on the Unlimited Blade Works route of the visual novel Fate/stay night by Type-Moon. It follows straight on from the first half.

The story is set in the Japanese city of Fuyuki. Seven mages, called Masters, fight in a secret war called the Holy Grail War. Each Master summons a Servant, the spirit of a great hero from history or legend. The last pair standing will win the Holy Grail, which can grant any wish.

Shirou Emiya is a high school student who dreams of becoming a hero who saves everyone. He was pulled into the war by accident and summoned the knight Saber. He also teamed up with Rin Tohsaka, a skilled mage from his school, and her Servant, Archer.

At the end of the first season, things took a hard turn. Now Shirou is in a weaker position than ever, but he refuses to give up. He still wants to stop the war and protect the people of the city.

This season looks deeply at Shirou's ideals. Archer, a cold and cynical Servant, keeps telling him that his dream of saving everyone is foolish. Shirou must decide if his dream is worth fighting for. The season follows Shirou and Rin as they face powerful enemies and search for the truth behind the war.
