Synopsis
GAMERS! is a 2017 romantic comedy anime with 12 episodes. It was made by the studio Pine Jam and is based on the light novel series by Sekina Aoi. It is set at a normal high school in modern Japan. The show makes fun of both gaming and school romance.
Keita Amano is a quiet high school boy who loves video games. He has no real friends at school, and he spends most of his free time playing games alone. One day, Karen Tendo, the most beautiful and popular girl in school, suddenly talks to him. She is the leader of the school's game club, and she invites him to join.
Keita is shocked. But when he visits the club, he finds out it is full of serious players who train to win tournaments. Keita plays games just for fun, so he says no. Karen is surprised, but this makes her even more interested in him.
Soon, Keita meets other gamers. Tasuku Uehara is a popular boy who wants to become Keita's friend. Chiaki Hoshinomori is a shy girl with messy hair who loves games as much as Keita, but she disagrees with him about almost everything.
From there, small mistakes pile up. People misread each other's words and feelings, and one misunderstanding leads to another. The show follows this group of gamers as their love lives get more and more tangled.
