Synopsis
Grand Blue Dreaming is a 2018 comedy anime with 12 episodes. It was made by the studio Zero-G and is based on the manga by Kenji Inoue and Kimitake Yoshioka. It is set in the seaside town of Izu, south of Tokyo, and at a nearby university. The show is full of jokes about drinking and partying, and it is aimed at older viewers.
Iori Kitahara is starting his first year of college. He is excited about his new life by the sea. He plans to live in a room above Grand Blue, his uncle's scuba diving shop. He dreams of making friends, meeting girls and having a normal, happy college life.
On his first day, things go very wrong. The shop is the home base of the university's diving club, Peek a Boo. The club is full of loud, muscular older students who spend most of their time drinking, partying and running around without clothes. Before Iori knows what is happening, he is pulled into their wild games.
Iori does not want anything to do with the club. But he keeps getting dragged into their plans, along with his new friend Kohei Imamura, an anime fan who is just as unlucky. Iori's cousin Chisa, who works at the shop, loves diving and is not impressed with him at all.
Slowly, Iori also starts to learn about the real beauty of diving and the ocean. The series follows Iori and his friends through silly college life, club events and their first dives.
