Synopsis
Higehiro: After Being Rejected, I Shaved and Took in a High School Runaway is a 2021 drama anime with 13 episodes. It was made by Project No.9 and is based on the light novel series by Shimesaba. It is set in modern Tokyo. The show deals with serious topics, including young people being used by adults, so it is for older viewers.

Yoshida is a 26-year-old office worker. After five years of liking his boss, Airi Goto, he finally asks her out. She turns him down. That night, he gets drunk and walks home feeling very sad.

On the way, he finds a high school girl sitting alone by the road. Her name is Sayu Ogiwara. She tells him she has nowhere to go and offers to sleep with him if he lets her stay. Yoshida refuses. He does not want anything like that from a child. But he also does not want to leave her out in the cold.

Yoshida decides to let Sayu stay at his apartment. His rules are simple. She must help with the housework, and she must never make that kind of offer again. Slowly, he learns that Sayu ran away from her home in Hokkaido months ago. She has been living with strangers ever since.

The show follows Yoshida and Sayu as they build a safe, caring home together. It also shows Yoshida's work life, with Goto and his young coworker Yuzuha Mishima. It is a quiet story about trust and healing.
