Synopsis
Horimiya is a 2021 romantic comedy anime with 13 episodes. It was made by the studio CloverWorks and is based on the manga by HERO and Daisuke Hagiwara. The story takes place at a normal high school in Japan and in the homes of its students.
Kyouko Hori is one of the most popular girls at school. She gets good grades, has lots of friends and always looks neat. But at home, she is very different. Her parents work long hours, so she cooks, cleans and looks after her little brother, Souta. She has no time for fun, and she does not want her friends to see this side of her.
Izumi Miyamura is a boy in her class. At school, he seems quiet and gloomy. He wears glasses, has long hair and hardly talks to anyone. Most classmates do not even know his name.
One day, Souta gets hurt, and a young man with many piercings brings him home. Hori does not know who he is at first. Then she learns that the young man is Miyamura. Outside of school, he takes off his glasses, and he has tattoos that he hides under his uniform.
Now Hori and Miyamura each know the other's secret. They start to spend time together, and Miyamura becomes a regular guest at Hori's house. The show follows their growing friendship, as well as the lives of their classmates, in short and warm stories.
