Synopsis
Shikimori's Not Just a Cutie is a 2022 romantic comedy anime with 12 episodes. It was made by the studio Doga Kobo and is based on the manga by Keigo Maki. It is set at a normal high school in Japan.
Yuu Izumi is a kind and cheerful high school boy. He has one big problem. He has terrible luck. Every day, something goes wrong for him. Balls fly at his head, bikes almost hit him and flower pots fall from above. He often ends up hurt, but he still tries to smile.
Izumi's girlfriend is Miyako Shikimori, a girl in his class. She is sweet and cute, and she loves Izumi very much. She often blushes and acts shy around him. But whenever Izumi is in danger, Shikimori changes. She becomes cool and confident, and she moves very fast to protect him. Many times she is the one who saves him, like a hero in a movie.
Izumi is thankful, but he also feels bad that he always needs saving. He wants to be a good boyfriend and be someone she can count on too. Their friends, like Nekozaki, Inuzuka and Hachimitsu, often join them and help out.
The show does not have a big, dramatic plot. Instead, it is made of short, sweet stories about their days at school and on dates. The series follows Shikimori and Izumi as they grow closer and try to make each other happy.
