Synopsis
Komi Can't Communicate is a 2021 school comedy anime, and this first season has 12 episodes. It was made by the studio OLM and is based on the manga by Tomohito Oda. It is set at Itan Private High School in Japan, a school known for its many unusual students.
Hitohito Tadano is a completely normal boy. He wants to have a quiet life in high school without standing out. On his first day, he ends up sitting next to Shoko Komi.
Komi is tall and very beautiful. The whole school admires her. Students stare at her in the halls, and some even faint when she walks past. Everyone thinks she is cool and a little distant, because she never speaks.
Tadano soon finds out the truth. Komi is not cold at all. She has a serious problem with communication. She is very shy and anxious, and when she tries to talk to people, she freezes and cannot say a word. Tadano and Komi have their first real talk by writing on the classroom chalkboard.
There, Komi tells him her dream. She wants to make 100 friends. Tadano decides to help her, and he becomes her very first friend. Together they try to meet new classmates one by one. But many of the students at Itan High have their own strange quirks. The show follows Komi and Tadano in short stories, as Komi slowly works up the courage to connect with people.
