Horimiya: The Missing Pieces

Horimiya: The Missing Pieces is a 2023 romantic comedy anime with 13 episodes. It was made by CloverWorks and is based on the manga by HERO and Daisuke Hagiwara. It is a companion to the 2021 anime Horimiya. It adapts many small chapters from the manga that the first anime skipped.

The story is set at a normal high school in Japan. Kyoko Hori is a popular and smart girl. At school, she looks perfect, but at home she spends her time cooking, cleaning and looking after her little brother, Souta. Izumi Miyamura is a quiet boy with glasses who seems gloomy at school. Outside school, he has many piercings and tattoos, and he is a kind and gentle person.

In the first series, the two found out each other's secrets and fell in love. This series does not tell one big story. Instead, it shows short, everyday moments from across their school years. Some are funny, some are sweet and some are a little sad.

Their friends also get more time to shine. There is Toru Ishikawa, Miyamura's cheerful best friend, and Yuki Yoshikawa, Hori's lively friend. Student council members Kakeru Sengoku, Remi Ayasaki and Sakura Kono also appear in their own stories.

The show is a calm and gentle series. It is best for viewers who already know the characters and want to spend more time with them.
