Synopsis
InuYasha is a 2000 fantasy adventure anime with 167 episodes. It was made by Sunrise and is based on the manga by Rumiko Takahashi. It moves between modern Tokyo and feudal Japan, a time of war when demons and spirits walked the land.
Kagome Higurashi is a 15-year-old girl who lives at her family's shrine in Tokyo. On her birthday, a centipede demon comes out of the old well on the shrine grounds and pulls her in. When she climbs out, she is 500 years in the past.
In a forest near a village, Kagome finds a boy with dog ears pinned to a tree by a magic arrow. He is InuYasha, a half-demon who has been asleep there for 50 years. The villagers tell Kagome she is the reincarnation of Kikyo, the priestess who sealed him. Then Kagome learns that the Shikon Jewel, a powerful gem that demons want, was hidden inside her body.
To survive a demon attack, Kagome frees InuYasha. He wants the jewel so he can become a full demon, but he soon gets a magic necklace that lets Kagome stop him with one word. When the jewel breaks into many small pieces that scatter across Japan, the two must work together to find them all.
Along the way, they gain new friends and face a cruel enemy. The show mixes action, comedy and romance over a very long adventure.
