Synopsis
INUYASHIKI LAST HERO is a 2017 science fiction action anime with 11 episodes. It was made by MAPPA and is based on the manga by Hiroya Oku, the creator of Gantz. It is set in modern Tokyo. The show has strong violence, so it is only for adult viewers.
Ichiro Inuyashiki is a 58-year-old office worker, but he looks much older. His wife and children do not respect him, and they mostly ignore him. Then his doctor tells him he is very sick and does not have long to live. Ichiro feels that his life has meant nothing.
One night, while walking his new dog in a park, Ichiro is hit by a strange light from the sky. It is an alien spaceship that crashes to the ground. When he wakes up, his body has been rebuilt. He still looks the same on the outside, but inside he is now a machine with incredible powers. He can fly and even heal the sick.
A high school boy named Hiro Shishigami was in the park that night too, and the same thing happened to him. The two of them now have the same powers, but they use them in very different ways. Ichiro decides to use his new body to save people. For the first time, he feels truly alive. Hiro starts to use his power to hurt people.
The show follows both of them as their paths move toward each other. It asks what it means to be human.
