Synopsis
Nichijou - My Ordinary Life is a 2011 comedy anime with 26 episodes. It was made by Kyoto Animation and is based on the manga by Keiichi Arawi. It is set in the small town of Tokisadame in Japan.
The show follows the daily lives of a group of people in the town, especially three high school girls. Yuko Aioi is loud and full of energy. Mio Naganohara is cheerful and loves to draw, but she has some secret hobbies she does not want anyone to know about. Mai Minakami is very quiet and calm, and she loves to play strange tricks on her friends.
Another main character is Nano Shinonome, a robot girl who looks just like a human, except for a large wind-up key on her back. Nano was built by the Professor, a genius scientist who is only eight years old. The Professor lives with Nano and with Sakamoto, a black cat who can talk thanks to a special scarf. Nano wants to live a normal life and go to school like other girls. She tries hard to keep people from finding out that she is a robot.
The show does not have one big story. Instead, each episode is made of short scenes and sketches. Normal things, like being late for school or losing an eraser, turn into huge and silly events.
