Synopsis
The Quintessential Quintuplets is a 2019 romantic comedy anime, and this first season has 12 episodes. It was made by Tezuka Productions and is based on the manga by Negi Haruba. It is set in modern Japan, at a high school and in a fancy apartment.
Futaro Uesugi is a second year high school student with top grades. He has no friends, because he spends all his time studying. His family is poor and has a lot of debt, so he takes any chance to earn money.
One day, he gets an offer for a well paid job. He will work as a private tutor for the daughters of a rich family who have just moved to his school. There is a catch. The daughters are quintuplets, five sisters born on the same day who look almost the same. All five of them have terrible grades.
The sisters are Ichika, Nino, Miku, Yotsuba and Itsuki Nakano. Each one has a very different personality. Most of them do not want a tutor, and some of them make it clear that they want him gone. Futaro is not good with people, and he has no idea how to deal with five difficult girls at once.
Still, Futaro needs the money, and he slowly starts to understand each sister. The show also reveals that in the future, Futaro will marry one of the five, but it does not say which one. The season follows Futaro as he tries to help all five sisters graduate.
