Synopsis
The Way of the Househusband is a 2021 comedy anime made for Netflix, and this first part has 5 episodes. It was made by J.C.Staff and is based on the manga by Kousuke Oono. It is set in modern Tokyo. Most episodes are made up of two short stories. The animation has a special style that looks like a moving comic, with few movements.
Tatsu was once a feared yakuza boss, known as the Immortal Dragon. He was so strong that people still tell stories about him. But now he has left the gang life behind. He is married to Miku, a hard-working career woman, and he stays at home as a full-time househusband.
Tatsu takes his new job very seriously. He cooks, cleans, shops for sales and does the laundry with the same intensity he once used in gang fights. He still looks scary, with a scar on his face and dark sunglasses. When he talks about groceries or cute cooking tools, people often think he is talking about crime.
Many of the jokes come from these misunderstandings. Police officers suspect him, old rivals want to fight him and his former gang members keep showing up. Tatsu does his best to solve every problem in a peaceful, homemaker way.
Miku loves him and is happy with their life, though she has her own odd hobbies. The show is a light comedy about a tough man who finds joy in taking care of his home.
