Wandering Witch: The Journey of Elaina is a 2020 fantasy anime with 12 episodes. It was made by the studio C2C and is based on the light novel series by Jougi Shiraishi. It is set in a peaceful world that looks like old Europe, with many small countries, each with its own customs.

Elaina is a young girl who grew up reading a book about a traveling witch named Nike. Nike's stories make Elaina want to become a witch and travel the world too. She studies very hard and passes the witch exam at just 14, making her the youngest person ever to do so.

But passing the exam is not enough. Elaina needs a teacher to become a full witch, and no one wants to take her. Finally, she finds Fran, a strange witch who lives in a forest. Fran's lessons are not what Elaina expects, but they teach her things she could not learn from books.

After she becomes a full witch, Elaina sets out alone on her broom. She flies from country to country and meets many people. Some of her visits are light and funny. Others are sad, strange or even dark. Elaina is proud and a little vain, and she often calls herself beautiful. She also tries not to get too involved in other people's problems.

Each episode is mostly its own short story. The show is a calm travel story that mixes warm moments with bittersweet ones.
