Synopsis
86 EIGHTY-SIX Part 2 is the second part of the war drama anime 86 EIGHTY-SIX. It aired from 2021 to 2022 with 11 episodes and was made by A-1 Pictures. It is based on the light novel series by Asato Asato. The story is set in a future where robot war machines called the Legion attack every nation on the continent.
At the start of this part, Shinei Nouzen and the last members of his Spearhead squad have left the Republic of San Magnolia behind. The Republic treated them as less than human and sent them to die. Now they have crossed into the Federal Republic of Giad, a country they thought was gone.
In Giad, they are taken in by Ernst Zimmerman, the kind interim president. He gives Shin and his friends a home and a chance at a normal, quiet life. They also live with Frederica, a proud young girl with a secret past. For the first time, they do not have to fight.
But Shin and the others do not feel at home in peace. Fighting is all they know. In the end, they choose to join the Federacy's army and go back to the front lines against the Legion. There, they must learn to work with new soldiers and new machines.
Far away, Vladilena Milize still serves in the Republic. She keeps fighting in her own way for the Eighty-Six. The show is a serious story about war, loss and finding a reason to live.
