Synopsis
Akame ga Kill! is a 2014 dark fantasy action anime with 24 episodes. It was made by the studio White Fox and is based on the manga by Takahiro and Tetsuya Tashiro. It is set in a fantasy empire ruled from a great city called the Capital.
Tatsumi is a young swordsman from a poor village in the countryside. His village is starving because of high taxes. He travels to the Capital with two childhood friends to find work and earn money to send home. On the way, the three of them get split up.
In the Capital, Tatsumi soon learns that life there is not what he hoped. A kind noble family takes him into their home. But the city is full of crime and cruelty, and the rich are often the worst of all. The real power in the empire belongs to the Prime Minister, Honest. He controls the young Emperor and uses his power to do whatever he likes.
One night, a secret group of assassins called Night Raid comes to the house. They work for a rebel army that wants to bring down the Prime Minister. Each member uses a special weapon called a Teigu. One of them is Akame, a quiet girl who fights with a deadly sword.
What Tatsumi sees that night changes his mind about the Capital. Night Raid asks him to join them. The series follows Tatsumi as he becomes an assassin and fights against the rotten empire.
