Synopsis
Blood Blockade Battlefront is a 2015 supernatural action comedy anime, and this first season has 12 episodes. It was made by the studio Bones and is based on the manga by Yasuhiro Nightow, the creator of Trigun. It is set in Hellsalem's Lot, a city that used to be New York.
Three years ago, a gate to another world, called the Beyond, suddenly opened over New York. In one night, the city was changed forever. Now humans live side by side with strange creatures, monsters and magic. A huge wall of mist covers the city. It is the most dangerous place on Earth, but it is also full of amazing things.
Leonardo Watch is a young photographer who comes to Hellsalem's Lot. Some time ago, a mysterious being gave him a special pair of eyes, called the All-Seeing Eyes of the Gods. They let him see things that no one else can. But the gift came at a terrible cost to his little sister. Leonardo feels guilty and wants to find a way to help her.
In the city, Leonardo meets Libra, a secret group that works in the shadows to keep the balance between the human world and the Beyond. It is led by Klaus V. Reinherz, a huge and very polite gentleman. Other members include Zapp Renfro, a rude but skilled fighter. Leonardo soon joins them.
The series follows Leonardo and Libra as they deal with monsters, crime and strange events in the city, while a mysterious story slowly unfolds in the background.
