Synopsis
Fruits Basket (2019) is a romantic fantasy drama anime, and this first season has 25 episodes. It was made by TMS Entertainment and is based on the manga by Natsuki Takaya. It is a new and complete adaptation of the story. It is set in modern Japan.
Tohru Honda is a kind and cheerful high school girl. Her mother, who raised her alone, died recently. Tohru does not want to be a burden to anyone. So, she lives alone in a small tent in the woods while she works part time and goes to school.
One day, Tohru finds a house nearby. It belongs to members of the Sohma family. One is Yuki Sohma, a quiet and popular boy from her class that the other students call the Prince. Another is his older cousin Shigure, a writer. When they learn that Tohru has been living in a tent, they invite her to live with them. In return, she will cook and clean for them.
Soon Tohru finds out the Sohma family's big secret. Some members of the family are cursed by the spirits of the Chinese zodiac. When they are hugged by someone of the opposite sex, or when they are under a lot of stress, they turn into animals. Yuki turns into a rat, Shigure into a dog, and their hot tempered cousin Kyo into a cat.
Tohru promises to keep their secret. The series follows her as she gets to know the Sohmas and the pain behind their curse.
