Synopsis
Kakegurui xx is the 2019 second season of the psychological drama anime. It has 12 episodes and was made by the studio MAPPA, based on the manga by Homura Kawamoto and Toru Naomura. It picks up after the end of the first season.
At Hyakkaou Private Academy, gambling decides who has power. Students bet large sums of money against each other, and those who lose too much become "pets" at the bottom of the school. The student council, led by President Kirari Momobami, controls the whole system.
Yumeko Jabami is a transfer student who loves gambling for the thrill of risk itself. In the first season, she shook up the school by beating several strong gamblers. She is always smiling, but when the stakes get high, a wild side of her comes out. Her friend Ryota Suzui and her former rival Mary Saotome are often by her side.
Now Kirari makes a big announcement. There will be an election for the next student council president. The votes are not counted in the usual way. Instead, students can bet their votes and win votes from others through gambling. The student with the most votes wins.
Many strong gamblers join the election, including members of the powerful Momobami family who want to take the school for themselves. The season follows Yumeko as she enters the election, faces new opponents and plays games with even higher stakes.
