Synopsis
Sword Art Online: Alicization is the 2018 third season of the science fiction action anime. This first part has 24 episodes and was made by A-1 Pictures, based on the light novels by Reki Kawahara. It takes place after the events of the earlier seasons.
Kirito, whose real name is Kazuto Kirigaya, is now a high school student in Tokyo. He has survived several dangerous virtual reality games, and he is now dating Asuna.
Kirito has taken a part time job with a company called Rath. He helps them test a new machine called the Soul Translator. It connects directly to a person's soul and lets them enter a virtual world that feels completely real. Inside, time moves much faster than in the real world. When the test ends, Kirito cannot remember anything that happened inside.
Then, after a sudden attack in the real world, Kirito wakes up in a strange forest. He is inside a virtual world called the Underworld, but he does not know how he got there or how to leave. The people who live there act and think just like real humans.
Kirito meets Eugeo, a kind young man whose job is to cut down a giant tree. Eugeo still thinks about his childhood friend Alice, who was taken away years ago by the powerful Integrity Knights. The season follows Kirito and Eugeo as they set out for the capital to become knights and find the truth about Alice and the Underworld.
