Synopsis
The Future Diary is a 2011 psychological thriller anime with 26 episodes. It was made by the studio Asread and is based on the manga by Sakae Esuno. It is set in a modern Japanese city.
Yukiteru Amano, called Yuki, is a shy 14 year old boy. He does not have friends, and he spends his time writing a diary on his phone about what he sees around him. He also talks to an imaginary friend, Deus Ex Machina, who he thinks is the god of time and space.
One day, Yuki finds out that Deus is real. Deus changes Yuki's phone diary so that it shows what will happen in the next 90 days. Now Yuki can read about events before they happen.
But the gift comes with a deadly price. Yuki is one of twelve people who own a future diary. Deus is dying, and he has started a game to choose the next god. The diary owners must find and kill each other. The last one alive will become the new god.
Soon, another diary owner tries to kill Yuki. He is saved by Yuno Gasai, a pretty and popular girl in his class. Yuno also has a future diary, and hers shows everything about Yuki, every ten minutes. She is deeply in love with him, and she will do anything to keep him safe.
The series follows Yuki and Yuno as they try to survive the game against the other diary owners.
