Synopsis
Yamada and the Seven Witches is a 2015 romantic comedy anime with 12 episodes. It was made by Liden Films and is based on the manga by Miki Yoshikawa. It is set at Suzaku High School, a normal school in Japan, but it has a supernatural twist.
Ryu Yamada is a lazy troublemaker with bad grades. Nobody at school likes him much, and he does not care. One day, he runs into Urara Shiraishi, a top student, on the stairs. They both fall down. When Yamada wakes up, he is in Urara's body, and she is in his.
After some tests, they find out how it works. When they kiss, they swap bodies. They decide to use this power to help each other. Urara can help Yamada with his studies, and Yamada can help Urara with the girls who bully her.
To keep their secret, they restart the school's old Supernatural Studies Club. Toranosuke Miyamura, the vice president of the student council, joins them. He tells them about a school legend of seven witches. Each witch is a student with a special power that works through a kiss. Soon, another girl, Miyabi Ito, joins the club too, because she loves anything strange.
Yamada sets out to find the other witches and learn what their powers are. The show mixes school comedy with light romance and a mystery about the witches. Many scenes play with the kissing idea for jokes.
