Synopsis
Alya Sometimes Hides Her Feelings in Russian is a 2024 romantic comedy anime with 12 episodes. It was made by the studio Doga Kobo and is based on the light novels by SunSunSun. It is set at Seirei Private Academy, an elite high school in Tokyo.
Alisa Mikhailovna Kujou, known as Alya, is a first year student with silver hair and blue eyes. Her father is Russian and her mother is Japanese. She is beautiful, gets top grades and serves on the student council. Most students see her as cool and distant, and they call her a princess. She does not have many close friends.
Masachika Kuze sits next to her in class. He is the opposite of Alya. He is lazy, often sleeps in class and spends his free time on anime and games. Still, he is surprisingly smart, and he gets along well with people.
Alya often scolds Masachika for being lazy. But sometimes she says sweet things to him in Russian. She thinks nobody in the class can understand the language, so she feels safe saying what she really feels. What Alya does not know is that Masachika understands Russian perfectly. He hears everything, but he pretends that he does not.
Soon, the two of them get pulled into plans for the next student council election. The series follows Masachika and Alya through their daily school life, as Alya's secret Russian words and their growing feelings lead to many funny and awkward moments.
